The safety of our clients is paramount. We will discuss with you your story when we meet you. We have extensive experience of helping people with a domestic abuse history, and have professionals to whom we refer our clients to support them through this process.
How we can help in disputes about domestic abuse:
- Legal Remedies: We can aid in securing a Non-Molestation Order. This is a legal measure designed to prevent a person from harassing, pestering, or threatening violence against you or your child, whether directly or indirectly, in person or remotely.
- Child Arrangements Order: The process of applying for a Child Arrangements Order can be complex and lengthy. Our firm, specialising in family law and experienced in handling domestic abuse cases, can guide you through this process. Please note, there is a legal requirement to attend mediation as part of the application for a Child Arrangements Order. However, if you are a victim of abuse, an exemption can be applied, ensuring your safety and well-being are paramount.
- Case Evidence: We can advise on compiling and presenting critical evidence for your case. This can include incidents related to alleged abuse, which can be crucial in child and financial settlement proceedings.
There are other agencies you can contact which are critical for ensuring your safety and wellbeing:
- The Police: In cases of immediate danger, contact local police. Domestic abuse is a criminal offence, and in an emergency, you should call 999.
- Social Services: These entities can conduct risk assessments and provide counselling and housing solutions as needed.
- Counselling Services: These organisations provide emotional support and assistance to help you process your experiences.
In addition, several organisations can provide further assistance:
- MK ACT: Offering support to anyone suffering from fear and abuse, MK ACT can help you seek the right support from our services or support you in moving to a safer area. You can contact them at 0344 375 4307 (helpline available 9am-5pm).
- National Domestic Violence Helpline: This national helpline provides immediate assistance. Their number is 0808 2000247.
- Mankind Initiative: A confidential helpline for male victims of domestic abuse and domestic violence, available at 01823 334244 (Available 10am-4pm).
- The National LGBT+ Domestic Abuse helpline: Provides support for individuals within the LGBT+ community experiencing domestic abuse. They can be reached at 0800 999 5428.
- Suzy Lamplugh Trust: The National Stalking Helpline offering support for victims of stalking.
Every case is unique, and the necessary steps will depend on your individual circumstances. We assure you of our full commitment to your case and encourage you to utilise all available resources.
We can also represent you if you have been served with a non-molestation order or an occupation order. You may not have been aware that your former partner was applying for these orders from the court.
